Here's to the Women Making Tech Better
Happy International Women's Day from all of us on the UCISA Women in Tech committee! Today — and every day — we celebrate the incredible women shaping the future of technology across higher and further education. Whether you're a seasoned leader, just starting out, or somewhere brilliantly in between: this community is for you.
And what better way to mark the occasion with an update from what we have been up to…
Committee Update
We Came, We Saw, We Strategised
Last week, the committee gathered at Queen Mary University of London for a full day of planning, connecting, and getting things done. Members travelled from as far as Plymouth and Aberdeen — a 4am alarm is considerably easier when cake is involved.
It was a genuinely brilliant day. We dug into the results of our recent member survey (a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to fill it in — your input will shape what we do!), reviewed our committee representation, and mapped out our comms plan for the months ahead.
Oh, and we managed to get a committee photo on the rooftop overlooking London; thanks to QMUL for hosting us.
We Want You on This Committee
As we reviewed our committee membership, we noticed some important gaps in representation — and we really want to fill them. So, if you are in Wales Northen Ireland, Further Education or just starting out in your career, we'd love to hear from you. Your voice and perspective genuinely matter.
If you’re interested in joining the committee, please complete the MS Form: UCISA Women In Tech - Request to Join Committee form.

Our Conference is Almost Here 🎤
Our annual Women in Tech conference (WiT26) is happening in May in Newcastle and excitement is very much building. We've been busy planning sessions, lining up brilliant content, and making sure it's going to be an event worth travelling for!
You can still book your place via the UCISA Connect Portal.
We Still Have Speaking Slots Available!
Got a story to tell? A project to shout about? Insight that others in the sector need to hear? We'd love to have you. Talks, panels, lightning sessions — all formats welcome.
Don't undersell yourself. If you've been wondering whether your experience is "worth sharing" — it absolutely is. This community wants to hear from you.
The IWD Playlist
Songs That Make Us Feel Unstoppable
To celebrate International Women's Day, we asked committee members to share the songs that empower them — but can you match the song to the Committee member (and guess who was heavily inspired by their trip to see Six that evening). Here's what's currently powering our collective energy:
UCISA WiT: Empowering Playlist
Songs chosen by the committee
- The Giver — Chappell Roan
- Sisters are Doing It for Themselves – Aretha Franklin
- Girl in Fire – Alicia Keys
