13 April 2022 - UCISA Sustainability Group launched
Sustainability is important to all of us: our colleagues, our students, our families, our children. As IT professionals, it’s important to us to make sure we’re part of the solution, not part of the problem.
We were pleased to announce the launch of a new Sustainability Group at the UCISA22 Leadership Conference with the session – Sustainability and the climate emergency: how can IT be part of the solution and not part of the problem? – with Mike Berners-Lee.
If you’re interested in joining the group, please contact us at admin@ucisa.ac.uk
We’re happy for the group to be as large as possible: from it we’d like to identify twelve representative institutions to form the UCISA Sustainability Committee who’ll help the group work towards the goals set out in our terms of reference. Specifically, these are as follows:
- Developing best practice for reducing the carbon footprint of IT
- Working with Team UCISA to challenge our supply chains to share their plans for carbon reduction
- Promote the tracking and budgeting of carbon emissions
- Promote practices that use IT to reduce carbon emissions
- Create networking opportunities for those involved in institutions’ sustainability plans
- Create and publish materials and content to support sustainability in member institutions
- Collaborate with other UCISA groups and other sector groups on sustainability related events and content
