About the Event

There are topics that often stir strong feelings in higher education, like Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) or Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). Our UCISA Security group are experts in understanding the technology and challenges associated with such initiatives, specifically in the context of achieving cyber essentials certifications. However, the core issue often stems from a lack of understanding among users about why IT departments enforce additional authentication steps or are concerned about personal devices

This UCISA London Group event aims to examine such issues from the user's perspective. How can we shift the perception from "the IT department is trying to control us" to "the IT department has provided us with excellent tools that protect us both at work and at home"? Would a focus on personal cybersecurity lead to more informed and cooperative users in the workplace? How do we move towards a point where we all work towards the same goal?
