About the Event

The Internet of Things (IoT) is something that has been discussed now for a long while. In the home environment this has gradually permeated houses through Alexa, Google home and a proliferation of smart bulbs and sensors.

In the world of work though IoT needs more thought. It can be difficult to manage, a risk to security and not reliable enough. In this session we will consider IoT in an HE environment. What are the areas it is used in the most and what are some of the opportunities and challenges. Ranging from Occupancy sensing to monitoring of energy use, how do universities use this technology and what benefits are being seen?
