About the Event

Following on from a great turnout, thank you all, and a fantastic event last year in Leeds, we would like to cordially invite you to this year’s Digital Infrastructure Group conference – ‘AI - friend or Foe?’

While AI offers transformative potential for our institutions, the technical requirements for its implementation raise critical questions about sustainability, security, and the potential for massive hardware and power use.

Underpinning the effective implementation and use of AI is its interconnected nature and fundamental reliance on vast data streams necessitate robust security measures and reliable networking infrastructure.

This conference delves into the technical underpinnings of AI, exploring the intricate relationship between storage, security, networking, compute resources, and power consumption. We will examine the scalability challenges of AI infrastructure, the environmental impact of its energy demands, the potential risks and benefits of concentrated control over AI resources and the critical need for robust security and networking protocols.

Join us as we navigate the complexities of these technical aspects and their implications for the future of AI and it’s implementation in our institutions

The main focus of the conference is to explore the multifaceted nature of AI, examining both its Usage, potential benefits and risks, as well as delving into the technical requirements of AI, including storage, security, networking, compute resources, and power consumption, and their implications for the future.

  • AI's potential benefits and risks
  • AI's impact on employment, privacy, and ethics
  • AI's role in shaping the future
  • How to harness AI's power responsibly
  • How to ensure AI is secure
  • How to implement AI with sustainability in mind
  • Understanding AI's implications for education and infrastructure
